Does lighting make the party or does the DJ?by Tom Soccocio, Jr. on 05/04/11
In the old day's (the 80's) when DJ-ing for wedding receptions was young, lighting was heavy, bulky and hot, hot, hot. Nowadays it is not! So many DJ's can afford lighting and transport it fairly easily. Let me caution you about technology in the entertainment industry. Technology cannot take the place of experience and overall talent. We are proud of our current up-lighting and special effects lights. But I would never suggest that a DJ is great based on a really tricked out light show. Just because a person can afford technology that does not make them an expert on how to use it effectively. There has to be more substance behind your DJ/MC Entertainer than some flashy lights and laptop computer. Nothing can take the place of an experienced personality, genuine music knowledge and music production skills.
